I’m Emma Bialecki! I am a CAPPA-trained birth doula and a scientist at heart. Prior to becoming a doula, I was a forest ecologist, studying tree growth and learning how forest ecosystems respond to environmental change over time. Then I had babies, became enamored with birth, and now I study growth and development in humans instead!
Following my second birth, wherein my own doula was not able to attend in person due to pandemic restrictions, I became acutely aware of how the support of a doula, even just virtually, was exactly what I needed to help me navigate the transition. And now I get to support birthing persons and growing families during this profound life transformation.
I love living in Chicago and am overjoyed to be serving the pregnant people of this city. On any given day you can find me biking through parks on the north side, playing tennis, reading, and cuddling my humans and 4 backyard chickens

FAQs
-
A doula offers physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. A doula will be there with you every step of the way, and will be the person on your birth team that works for you. A doula will make sure that your needs are met and your questions are answered.
-
A doula maintains the emotional and physical wellbeing of the birthing person. Research indicates that continuous support during birth, such as that provided by a doula, reduces cesarean rates, increases the likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth, decreases the use of medication, and can result in an increase in the overall satisfaction with the birth experience.

I doula for everyone at your birth! I provide support for your people as well, to ensure that they feel useful and confident in their role. If the partner(s) feel capable, that lessens the load for you, the birthing person.

Anytime! It is never too early or too late in your pregnancy, as long as you are not yet laboring :) Often people will begin to reach out to a doula between 20-30 weeks, but earlier or later is just fine.
Reach out to schedule a free consult to discuss your needs and support options. I look forward to hearing from you!
